I ALWAYS over pack! I’ve only been on a plane once before in my life and it was only about an hour long flight. Since this flight is going to be 4 hours long I have been doing some serious preparation for what I should bring, what kind of clothes should I plan to take and so forth. I’m a very nervous flyer so making sure I haven’t forgotten anything is huge otherwise I will literally panic the entire time. Last time I forgot my phone…don’t even get me started on how that went down.
I wouldn’t say my phone is my lifeline but I was definitely panicking and not having a way to text or call my mom whenever I wanted really stressed me out so this time it will DEFINITELY be there with me at all times. Now, my trip isn’t until October and since I’m writing this in August you can get an idea as to how prepared I am trying to be. My boyfriend and his family are going to be spending 11 days in Puerto Vallarta and that is about 7 days longer than I have ever been away from home.
The bag I will be using is The Weekender bag that I purchased on Amazon, I’ll leave a link down below. It is so roomy and only costed me $40. I know it won’t last me forever but considering I haven’t gotten into my extreme traveling years yet I don’t really mind using a cheaper bag.
Lets start with the shoe compartment! This was a must have feature when I was looking for a carry on bag and I am so happy I didn’t just give up on looking for a bag with this feature. Since I will be wearing my largest shoes on the plane so they don’t take up a ton of space I was able to fit my sandals and my Converse in here perfect and this way I won’t be taking up extra space in my suitcase. YAY more room for makeup and other girly items haha! I honestly didn’t think this bag would have so much room but I love it.
I figured since this will be a very relaxing vacation and I’ll be spending 8 hours on a plane total that I should definitely bring along a book. I’m torn between bringing more than one but we’ll see what I’m reading when that time comes. I’m also going to be bringing my headphones, tablet, and a notebook so I have multiple forms of entertainment. I also worry about motion sickness so if I’m unable to read at least I’ll have some back up options. Can’t forget my phone and charger as well!
I know I want to wear comfy clothes on the flight so I figured why not have some pamper session items as well. Makeup wipes, freshening mist, maybe even a face mask, and moisturizer is a must! I have been doing such a good job at taking care of my skin lately and that last thing I want to do is let it get all dried out. I won’t walk you through my whole makeup bag because lets face it, people love pictures!
Luckily I don’t have a ton of liquid items but I do have a question if any of you know. Do you just have to put liquids in a clear bag or does all of your makeup have to be in a clear bag? Almost all of my stuff is powder which is why I ask and my makeup bag as you can see isn’t clear.
I’m sure I will find more things to shove in my bag but for now that is it. I bet you anything by the time I go on my next vacation that involves flying I will have added a ton of new items and will be doing an updated version of this post. It also depends on where you are flying I guess. I’ve never been to Mexico so I’m still trying to figure out what I should dress for. The only reason I include a sweater in my carry on is because I get cold easily and the last thing I want is to be uncomfortably cold on the airplane. I wouldn’t say I’m a germaphobe but I don’t exactly trust the complimentary blankets some airlines have….you never know!

I know It is a lot of stuff but if I can make it all fit in basically an oversized purse then so can you! I hope you all enjoyed this post and this is a little different for me but I certainly loved writing it and taking the photos for it! Speaking of photos, do my pictures look a little pixilated to you? I’ve always taken great care of my camera but for some reason the quality isn’t as good as it used to be. Have a lovely day everyone and fly safely and prepared!
